Feed research

The feed legislation in force in Poland and the EU contains detailed information on the properties, composition and labeling of farm and industrial feed, as well as feed additives.

Regulation (EC) No 183/2005 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 12 January 2005 laying down requirements for feed hygiene specifies:

        • General rules of feed hygiene.
        • Conditions and arrangements ensuring the traceability of the feed.
        • Conditions and arrangements for registration and approval of establishments.

The FoodSector Laboratory offers feed tests in the field of:

Microbiological tests:

        • The presence of Salmonella Spp. – horizontal method PN-EN ISO 6579-1: 2017-04,
        • Presence and / or number of Listeria monocytogenes – horizontal method PN-EN ISO 11290-2: 2017-07,
        • Total number of microorganisms – horizontal method PN-EN ISO 4833-1: 2013-12, PN-EN ISO 4833-2: 2013-1,
        • Presence and / or number of Clostridium perfringes – horizontal method PN-EN ISO 7937: 2005,
        • Number of coagulase-positive staphylococci (Staphylococcus aureus and others) – horizontal method PN-EN ISO 6888-2: 2022-03,

Physicochemical tests:

        • Basic nutrients:
          • dry weight,
          • humidity,
          • crude ash,
          • raw fat,
          • starch,
          • fiber,
          • protein,
        • Determination of amino acids (general amino acids, sulfuric amino acids, tryptophan),
        • Vitamin determination: A, E, iron, copper, manganese and zinc,
        • PH determination.

In order to assess the quality of feed, the number of probiotic bacteria is more and more often determined, both in compound feed and feed additives. The FoodSector Laboratory has at your disposal tests based on standards, including:

        • detection and determination of the number of probiotic yeast strains – PN-EN 15789: 2022-04,
        • detection and determination of the number of EnterococcusPN-EN 15788: 2022-04,
        • detection and enumeration of putative Bacillus spp. – PN-EN 15784: 2022-04,
        • detection and determination of the number of Bifidobacterium spp. – PN-EN 15785: 2009,
        • detection and determination of the number of Pediococcus spp. – PN-EN 15786: 2022-04,
        • detection and determination of the number of Lactobacillus spp. – PN-EN 15787: 2022-04.
